The Wichita Thunder celebrate after their sudden death overtime goal in Game 5 on Saturday night

What an emotional win last night for the guys! After coming back home at 4:30 in the morning, the team had to turn around and get back on the ice for Game 5. The home-ice has been so important in this series and it served to be the case last night as the team ended up pulling one out in overtime.  The goal that Chappell scored almost tore the roof off of INTRUST Bank Arena. I haven’t seen the crowd go that nuts since the days of the Coliseum. It sounded like there was more than 10 thousand people in that building last night, which is the exact reason we have the best fans in the league.  After the last two games of being frustrated and unable to come out with a win, the guys dug deep and earned a hard-fought win.

Today, the guys had the option to skate around 10 a.m. at IBA. The bus met us there and this time we loaded from there instead of picking up the players at the apartments. Once everything was all loaded, we hit the road around 11:45 a.m. for another trip back to North Richland Hills. The team was loose, but you could tell they don’t want to have to worry about a Game 7 in Wichita. We will arrive at the hotel around 6 or 7 tonight and then go unload the bus while the guys get dinner and rest up for tomorrow. I will have more in the morning when we head over to the arena for pre-game skate. Until then, thanks to the fans for a tremendous atmosphere last night!
